Even with an active imagination and a subject as exciting as dinosaurs and dragons, it can sometimes be a challenge to come up with a new design. 

That is when I turn to my wife and ask her to give me a challenge - the dragon she chose was different from anything I had created. It took me from making basic designs with a simple finish into really exploring what I could do. 

Inspired by its bone structure, I decided to make this dragon a part of the earth itself with green forests covering the plane, while horns as snow capped mountains soared above. 

It taught me a lesson I've never forgotten. Don't box yourself in with what you create.
